Pre-Final Round 2024
As you have successfully completed the Qualification Round, you are now qualified to participate in the Pre-Final Round, where the problems will be more challenging.
Problems and Process
The Pre-Final Round consists of six problems, and one of them requires you to engage with a real-world research paper:
- 2x Basic Problems (4 Points)
- 2x Advanced Problems (6 Points)
- 2x Special-Creativity Problems (8 Points)
This year's Pre-Final Round will take place
from Thursday, 23 January, until Sunday, 26 January 2025, and you will have four days to solve the problems at home. Detailed instructions and guidelines can be found online (

Training and Preparation
The Pre-Final Round will further test your mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills. You will also gain experience with real-world research papers. You can access general guidelines, example problems from previous years, and other training resources here:

To make this year's competition possible, qualified students who wish to participate in the Pre-Final Round need to cover the Pre-Final Round registration costs. The registration costs of this year's edition are
11 EUR. There are no other costs for students throughout this year's competition. You can find detailed information on how the registration costs are used to cover expenses and make IYMC 2024 possible here:
