Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh
Mimar Sinan High School

Greetings! My full name is Faizul Islam. I am originally from Myanmar (Rohingya), but I am currently surviving in the world’s largest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. At present, I am a Grade 11 student at Mimar Sinan Public High School under Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı. I also attend a private coaching school called Pyinnyar Shwe Oo. Alongside my school, I am an active learner in the Refugee Higher Education Access Program (RhEAP), which is centrally administered by the OSUN Hubs for Connected Learning Initiatives and Bard College, New York, in collaboration with BRAC University in Bangladesh. I am so delighted to join IYMC to bring opportunities for my fellow marginalized students in the refugee camp. I am a dedicated higher secondary student with a strong foundation in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. I aspire to become a civil engineer so that I can help rebuild my home state, Arakan. Since the genocidal campaign against the innocent Rohingya minority began, my people and my homeland have suffered severe devastation and extermination. Through engineering, I hope to protect our land, rebuild our state, and make a sustainable future for our people.
