Hello! My name is Yoan Jason Tchuente Bouffo, and I am a student from Cameroon with a curiosity that rarely stays in one field for too long. My relationship with mathematics was not always what it is today. In Form 3, I found mathematics too routine to spend much of my free time on. That changed when I discovered Additional Mathematics and, later, the International Youth Math Challenge. IYMC especially appealed to me because its unfamiliar problems gave me the freedom to explore different paths instead of looking for a prescribed method. Since then, mathematics has become one of the ways I challenge myself and satisfy my curiosity. I have also enjoyed sharing that curiosity with others through mathematics tutoring and STEM outreach. As an IYMC Ambassador, I hope to help students discover that mathematics can be much more than a school subject, and that sometimes an unfamiliar problem is simply an invitation to think differently.
